GROWING: how to submit items
Have you clicked on the green GROWING symbol on Home Page yet? This new format is replacing the quarterly Newsletters of old, offering a much wider range of items, with submissions from members in every Chapter -- and, as its name says, is constantly growing! It's about sharing with both the public reader and other Master Gardeners around the province.
Have you found a wonderful (or weird!) plant this summer to grow? Are you a keen photographer with a picture of a garden intruder (yes, we curse deer and raccoons, but they sure are cute sometimes!). Are you a collector of gardening sayings, with some to share with others? Take a read through this first "Summer Issue" and see the kinds of topics offered -- this is only the beginning! Perhaps you have the best recipe for making chocolate cake from a ton of huge zucchini..... We like seasonal-focus too, or quick tips to deal with a plant problem or pest invasion.
Something to share? Here's what you do next:
- send your submission (via email) to info.vmga@gmail.com (Communications Committee) - please have your spelling and any references checked. Make sure your name is on it, as well as the date.
- if you have a photo or clipart piece that would work as a Thumbnail in the GROWING list, please add
- the committee will then pass the articles to the Website Chapter Reps (Sue Wright and Kerry Seifried) who sit as part of the Provincial Editorial Board.
- once the Editorial Board has checked for any areas of conflict or liability etc, it is then "published" and added to GROWING, giving credit to the member and chapter.
So how are these items different from NEWS, ARTICLES, RESOURCES etc? Articles are generally longer (ie) multi-page; if there is good information that a number of members/public would access over a period of time, then we put that information into the Resources section. GROWING items are fun--passion--sharing and generally much shorter.
Give us your feedback too! Send your thoughts and comments to info.vmga@gmail.com and let us know how we can keep making this feature GROW.
